April 4, 2025Four personnel from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) recently took part in the prestigious Australian International Airshow in Avalon, marking a significant milestone in the development of Fiji’s air movements capability and strengthening regional defence partnerships.
Their participation formed part of a broader initiative to integrate RFMF personnel into the C-27 display, highlighting the growing air mobility capabilities resident within the Force. The RFMF team worked alongside the C-27 crew to demonstrate tactical airlift operations and ground handling procedures, reaffirming the RFMF’s commitment to enhancing operational readiness and interoperability with regional partners.
The engagement also provided a valuable platform to build rapport with the C-27 crew, laying the groundwork for deeper collaboration during future C-27 rotations. In a recent meeting, the Commander RFMF acknowledged the importance of such partnerships and emphasized the opportunity for continuation training for air movements personnel as part of the C-27 deployment cycles.
The Avalon Airshow served as both a public display of regional airpower and a practical opportunity for professional development. For the RFMF, it was an important step toward further integrating into multilateral defence cooperation frameworks, particularly in the domain of tactical air mobility, humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR), and regional stability operations.
The RFMF continues to seek new avenues for its personnel to build their technical proficiency and foster enduring defence partnerships, with the ultimate aim of ensuring the Force is ready to respond effectively to both national and regional challenges.
