The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) proudly congratulates Colonel Daunivakasala Kalitabua Ravunakana on his promotion and appointment as Military and Police Advisor to Fijiโ€™s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.
Colonel Ravunakana has served the RFMF with outstanding dedication, professionalism, and integrity since his enlistment in 1992. His distinguished career spans over three decades of exemplary service in both domestic and international postings โ€” including multiple United Nations missions in Lebanon, Iraq, Timor-Leste, the Golan Heights, and the Sinai Peninsula.
A graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon (Australia) and the National Defence University of the Peopleโ€™s Liberation Army (China), Colonel Ravunakana has also completed advanced studies in Strategic and Security Studies, and Emergency and Disaster Management.
Meanwhile, Captain Merelesita Cakau has been promoted to the rank of Major and will take up the position of Military Observer โ€“ United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO). Her promotion marks another milestone in the RFMFโ€™s growing representation of Fijian officers in key United Nations peacekeeping roles around the world.
Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, Commander RFMF, commended both officers for their professionalism, dedication, and exemplary service, noting that their promotions reflect the RFMFโ€™s continued commitment to international peacekeeping operations and global security cooperation.
