On Thursday, 18 September 2025, the Commander Joint Taskforce Command (CJTFC), Brigadier General M.D. Gadai, had the honour of hosting the United Nations Resident Coordinator to Fiji, His Excellency Dirk Wagener, who is also accredited to the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
Upon arrival, His Excellency was accorded a Quarter Guard in recognition of respect, honour, and national pride. This was followed by a traditional welcoming ceremony before a briefing was conducted in the JTFC main conference room by the J3- Operations Officer. The briefing highlighted Fiji’s leadership in regional security, its contribution to international peacekeeping, JTFC’s role in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), and the integration of multinational support enabling the RFMF, through JTFC, to fulfil its mission.
His Excellency expressed his appreciation to Brigadier General Gadai for the professionalism and guidance reflected throughout the visit. This was followed by a bilateral meeting between the two leaders, which focused on how the United Nations could further support the Republic of Fiji Military Forces in enhancing JTFC’s ability to carry out its mission and tasks to the highest professional standards, contributing to both regional and international stability.
The visit continued with a camp tour beginning at the HADR warehouse, an initiative of the Pacific Community under the Pacific Humanitarian Warehousing Program (PHWP), which aims to strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience. His Excellency, accompanied by the J3- Operations Officer, the Officer Commanding Pre-Deployment Training Company, and the Blackrock Camp Commandant, also met with MFO Fiji Battalion 44 personnel currently undergoing pre-deployment training- Mission Essential Training Exercise. He was provided with a full operational brief and a tour of their simulated Southern Battalion Headquarters, Sinai. The camp tour concluded with a visit to the Blackrock Level 1 Hospital.
Before his departure, His Excellency once again conveyed his sincere appreciation for the honour and hospitality extended to him during his visit to Joint Taskforce Command.
