The Republic of Fiji Navy was honored to welcome the inaugural visit of the British High Commissioner to Fiji, His Excellency Mr. Kanbar Hossein-Bor, to the Navy’s Maritime Essentials Services Centre (MESC) in Lami this week.
The visit provided an important opportunity for the High Commissioner to gain a first-hand understanding of the critical work carried out by the RFN at MESC, including its vital roles in hydrography, maritime surveillance, and safety of navigation. Discussions also highlighted the needs of the RFN and explored areas where the United Kingdom can continue to provide support and partnership.
Earlier in the day, the High Commissioner graciously hosted the Commander of the Fiji Navy for breakfast at the UK High Commissioner’s residence, setting the stage for constructive dialogue and strengthened cooperation.
This visit is part of the ongoing steps in reinforcing the strong ties between Fiji and the United Kingdom, as both nations continue to collaborate in promoting maritime safety, security, and resilience across our shared Pacific region.
