The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Engineers Regiment concluded its Basic Field Engineering Exercise, following five days of intensive field operations conducted from Monday, 18 August, to Friday, 22 August 2025, in the vicinity of Qelekuro, Tailevu.
The exercise forms part of the Engineers Regimentโs annual training cycle, aimed at enhancing core combat engineering competencies and operational readiness. This yearโs program focused on key engineering support functions, including mobility support, countermobility support, survivability, and sustainability support operations.
Over the course of the week, the engineers undertook a series of practical tasks simulating real-world operational scenarios. These included:

Minefield clearing, route search and clearance, tree felling operations, and water crossings to facilitate the movement of troops and equipment across challenging terrain, urban/semi-urban operations, and tactical rappelling.

Implementation of tactical obstacles, demolition tasks, and terrain denial strategies designed to impede enemy movement.
๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ: Establishment of defensive field structures, camouflage techniques, and sustainable water and power solutions to support prolonged field deployments.
The exercise not only tested the technical skills and physical endurance of participating personnel but also reinforced the importance of teamwork, innovation, and adaptability in dynamic field conditions.
The RFMF Engineers Regiment remains committed to building a capable, responsive, and resilient force. Exercises such as these are instrumental in preparing the unit to meet both national and international operational demands.
