A high-level delegation from the United States of America and Australia visited the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) at Blackrock, Nadi, on Friday, 15 August 2025.
The delegation was comprised of senior U.S. Congressional staffers, together with senior officials from the Australian Department of Home Affairs. The visit highlighted Fijiโ€™s pivotal role in regional security through its long-standing contributions to United Nations peacekeeping and its leadership in disaster response and humanitarian assistance across the Pacific.
Upon arrival, the delegation was formally welcomed by Commander JTFC, Brigadier-General Manoa Gadai, before receiving a detailed briefing on the Commandโ€™s mission and regional responsibilities. Discussions focused on JTFCโ€™s critical role in coordinating multinational cooperation during Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, as well as its strategic importance to regional stability.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the JTFC HADR warehouse, where the delegation observed Fijiโ€™s readiness and logistical capabilities to respond effectively to emergencies both domestically and regionally.
The delegation was led by Mr John Millerick, Department of Home Affairs, Australian Embassy, Washington, DC.
