The Australian Defence Force Warfare Training Centre (ADFWTC) successfully conducted the 01/25 Joint Forces Operational Planning Course at the Officers Training Centre in Vatuwaqa from Monday, 30 June, to Friday, 04 July 2025.
A total of 17 officers from HQ RFMF, HQ LFC, HQ JTFC, and HQ Navy participated in the course, which focused on enhancing operational-level planning capabilities in joint military contexts.
The course was designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the complexities inherent in operational-level planning. Through rigorous instruction and group-based application of the Australian Defence Forceโ€™s new Deliberate Military Planning Process (DMPP), the RFMF officers refined their ability to operate effectively as members of a Joint Planning Group.
Throughout the week-long program, the participants demonstrated their capacity to function as a cohesive, integrated force in addressing multidimensional security challenges faced by the RFMF. The course fostered collaboration, mutual understanding and highlighted the complementary strengths each officer brought to the planning table.
The Joint Warfare Course serves as a foundational milestone in the professional development of RFMF officers, strengthening their aptitude for joint operational planning. It provided an invaluable platform to leverage both the extensive knowledge of the ADF Warfare Training Centre Mobile Training Team and the diverse experiences of the participants.
These insights will undoubtedly contribute to the officersโ€™ growth and effectiveness as future operational leaders.
