The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) conducted its Gender Focal Point Meeting at the Strategic Headquarters in Berkeley Crescent today (1 May, 2025). The session was facilitated by RFMF Gender Adviser Ms. Lavenia Raisua, who was appointed to the role in April this year.
The Meeting brought together Gender Unit Representatives to establish formal connections with Gender Focal Points across the RFMF. The session provided participants with an overview of the RFMF Gender Policy and clarified the roles and responsibilities of the Gender Adviser and Focal Points.
Unit representatives also briefed Ms. Raisua on gender-related issues within their respective units.The meeting also included an awareness session on gender, gender discrimination and legal literacy especially on sexual harassment and domestic violence with discussions also focusing on complaints mechanisms, referral pathways, future trainings and awareness.
The RFMF Gender Policy, as highlighted during the meeting, aims to promote gender equality, equity and transformative change within the RFMF.
This milestone event demonstrates the RFMF’s continued efforts to establish gender-responsive policies and promote inclusive development within its ranks.
