The Republic of Fiji Military Forces participated in the Civil Service Day Celebrations at the Albert Park in Suva today, 04 July, 2025.
The celebration commenced with the RFMF Naval Band leading the march from the flea market to Albert Park, followed by the opening address by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Honourable Viliame Gavoka.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Gavoka paid tribute to the hardworking civil servants across the country.
โ€œYour commitment fuels and drives national development. Your values shape the character of our public institutions. And your work, without a doubt, is the backbone of our functional democracy,โ€ Hon. Gavoka said.
Hon. Gavoka also acknowledged the dedication of civil servants who continue to serve the nation under challenging conditionsโ€”including late nights, weekends, public holidays, and remote and maritime environments.
“You, our civil servants, day in and day out, serving the nation, often working late into the night, on public holidays and weekends, and very often in unfavorable weather conditions, especially for those serving our remote communities in hard to reach, interior, rural, and maritime areas,โ€ Hon. Gavoka said.
Hon. Gavoka also highlighted two growing national concerns: drug abuse and violence against women. He emphasised that these social issues not only affect families but also have a direct impact on the public service and national progress.
He reaffirmed the governmentโ€™s commitment to raising awareness, strengthening protective systems, and creating safe and supportive workplaces across the civil service.
In his remarks, Hon. Gavoka extended his heartfelt appreciation to all civil servants for their continued service and sacrifice.
โ€œI thank you again for your sacrifices, and I ask that you continue serving our people to the best of your abilities, because every one of us has a role to play in building a future towards a drug and violence free society, and I wish you all a happy service day.โ€
The day also featured a public exhibition by government agencies, showcasing their roles and services.
