The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) marked a significant milestone in its longstanding relationship with the Peopleโs Republic of China with the official launch of the RFMFโChina Alumni Association, a platform dedicated to recognising RFMF personnel who have undertaken professional military education, training, and academic studies in China.
The event was jointly officiated by Chinaโs Chargรฉ dโAffaires and Minister Counsellor, Mr. Wang, and Deputy Commander RFMF, Commodore Humphrey Tawake, reflecting the shared commitment to strengthening educational and professional cooperation between the two institutions.
In his remarks, Commodore Tawake highlighted the importance of academic growth and international exposure for the modern Fijian military. He emphasised that the RFMFโChina Alumni Association will serve not only as a forum for collaboration and professional networking but also as a source of institutional knowledge that contributes to the development of a more capable, informed, and globally engaged force.
Mr. Wang commended the initiative, noting that alumni networks form an essential bridge between nations. He expressed confidence that the association would deepen people-to-people ties and enhance mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation.
The launch also marked the formal appointment of the Associationโs inaugural leadership team:

Their appointments emphasizes the RFMFโs intention to build a structured, active, and forward-looking alumni body that can harness the collective experience of its members for institutional development.
