The Chief of Staff of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Brigadier-General (Brig-Gen) Sapenafa Motufaga, yesterday (Mon, 22 Sep 25) officially launched Exercise GENESIS 2–25 during the 4FIR, 5FIR, and 7FIR Annual Camp at Malau in Labasa.
Exercise GENESIS 2 is a whole-of-government and whole-of-society initiative aimed at strengthening Fiji’s preparedness and resilience against modern security threats. The exercise brings together the RFMF, government agencies, civil authorities, NGOs, and community partners to test and improve coordination in responding to crises such as natural disasters, terrorism, and maritime security challenges.
In his opening remarks, Brigadier General Motufaga stressed that the exercise is more than a military drill, highlighting its role in building confidence, strengthening collaboration, and reassuring the people of Fiji that the RFMF stands ready to assist, rebuild, and defend when called upon.
“By training together, we strengthen our partnerships, improve coordination, and build resilience in our communities. This exercise is about protecting our people, safeguarding our nation, and ensuring a secure and prosperous Fiji,” Brig-Gen Motufaga said.
Exercise GENESIS 2–25 will run throughout the Northern Division, testing readiness and demonstrating the importance of unity, teamwork, and shared responsibility in responding to national security challenges.
