The Multinational Force and Observers (MFO), Director General, Ms Elizabeth Dibble, made an official visit to Fiji this week. As part of her visit, Ms Dibble paid a courtesy call to the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Major General Jone Kalouniwai, at the RFMF Strategic Headquarters at Berkeley Crescent today.
Upon her arrival, Ms Dibble was accorded a 50-man Guard of Honour before proceeding to an official meeting with Major General Kalouniwai. A traditional Fijian welcome ceremony was also held in her honour at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks Officer’s Mess in Nabua.
In her remarks, Ms Dibble expressed her appreciation for the warm Fijian hospitality and extended her gratitude to the RFMF for their longstanding commitment to international peacekeeping efforts.
“I have been the Director General for almost three years now, and I have seen successive Fijian contingents serving with excellence under the MFO banner. The professionalism and dedication of RFMF personnel have been outstanding,” Ms Dibble said.
Ms Dibble also commended Fiji’s contributions to peace in the Middle East since 1982, highlighting that Fiji was among the original MFO contributors and has remained steadfast in maintaining peace between Egypt and Israel.
She concluded by thanking the Government of Fiji and the RFMF for their continued support and service in promoting global peace and security.
