On the morning of November 11, 2025 the officers and soldiers of the First Infantry Fiji Battalion gathered to honor those who gave their lives in service. This yearโs Remembrance Day was particularly special, as it also marked the relocation of the battalion headquarters to UN Position 60 (UNP60) in Syria.
The ceremony began with a short devotion by the Battalion Padre. Following this, WO1 Naisau, who is on his final tour of duty, read the Ode of Remembrance, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made. A deep silence followed, broken only by the Last Post, and a one-minute silence was observed.
The wreath-laying was led by Commanding Officer, Lt Col Isireli Dugu. WO1 Salote Salabuco represented the Ministry of Health, in recognition of the brave non-combatant medics who also paid the ultimate sacrifice during war.
