March 22, 2025The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) successfully concluded a two-day workshop on International Humanitarian Law at the Joint Task Forces Command in Blackrock Camp, Nadi, Wednesday, 19 March, 2025.
The purpose of the workshop was to enhance participantsโ understanding of their legal obligations under national law, in alignment with international laws, norms, and standards. It also focused on strengthening their ability to exercise their powers lawfully and appropriately within their respective roles.
A total of 30 participants attended the workshop, including three officers from the Fiji Corrections Service and five officers from the Fiji Police Force. Recognizing the importance of gender representation, female service personnel comprised 25% of the participants.
By successfully completing this workshop, the ICRC and the RFMF have demonstrated their dedication to upholding international humanitarian law and encouraging adherence among security forces.
