April 28, 2025The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Land Force Command, Chief of Staff, Colonel (Col) Penioni Naliva, officiated as chief guest during the historic cadet passing-out parade at Kadavu Provincial Secondary School on Wednesday, 30 April 2025.
Held at the school grounds, the event marked the first time the institution hosted such a parade, drawing pride and celebration from the local community.
In his address to the cadets, Col Naliva emphasised the importance of discipline and education in shaping future leaders.
โIf each cadet upholds discipline and pursues a good education, they will be equipped to tackle the major issues facing our nation today,โ Col Naliva said.
He noted that the two weeks of intensive training would help students become responsible citizens, provided they embraced the lessons taught by their instructors and teachers.
Col Naliva also raised concern over the rise in drug use and violence among young people, noting that these issues, particularly among teenagers, remain some of the countryโs major challenges. He stressed that the cadet program plays a crucial role in addressing these problems.
The event was a significant milestone for both the school and the province, symbolising a growing commitment to youth development and leadership as the community witnessed the schoolโs first-ever cadet passing-out parade.
