March 19, 2025The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Commander Land Forces (CLF) Brigadier General Onisivoro Covunisaqa and RFMF Assistance Padre, Captain Tama and Team, visited the troops during the Jungle phase of Exercise Central Diamond IVO Nabukavesi/ Namosi Training Area.
CLF and Team were briefed at the Exercise Control Stand (ExCon) with a Commanderโs Update brief (CUB) on the progress of Jungle operations Exercise.
As part of the visit, Brig-Gen Covunisaqa officiated at the handover of the CO 3FIR from the outgoing CO LTCOL I. Dugu to the incoming CO LTCOL P. Varawa during the Ex with the Full HO protocols from the Official HO parade, and traditional HO that was accorded during the HO.
During his speech, CLF also acknowledged the presence of our defense partners from the Australian Defense Force (ADF) 8/9 Royal Australian Regiment (RAR) and British Army Fusiliers Regiment that are also part of Exercise. CLF thanked the troops turnout despite of the unfavorable weather condition experienced during the Ex, He offered his well wishes and thanksgiving to the outgoing CO LTCOL I. Dugu for his leadership during his tenure as the CO, and his congratulatory wishes to the incoming CO LTCOL P. Varawa and emphasized on the importance of their leadership roles in the future and the welfare of the troops.
The visit underscores the RFMFโs readiness and response through rigorous training, ongoing commitment to supporting community development initiatives, highlighting the critical role of RFMF in Fiji’s security, wellbeing and nation building efforts.
