March 20, 2025On March 18, 2025, Major General Jone Kalouniwai, Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), visited the Third Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment during their participation in Exercise Central Diamond, held in Naitonitoni, Navua.
Upon his arrival, Maj-Gen Kalouniwai received a comprehensive briefing on the exercise from Lieutenant Sailosi Ravasakula and Captain Roland Swift of the British Army. The briefing provided insights into the objectives and operational strategies being employed during the exercise.
During the briefing, Maj-Gen Kalouniwai expressed gratitude for the collaboration with key defense partners, the Australian Defense Force and the British Army Fusiliers Regiment. He emphasized that such joint initiatives strengthen operational capabilities and play a crucial role in enhancing regional security and strategic preparedness.
Reflecting on the RFMFโs evolving role in multinational training programs, Maj-Gen Kalouniwai expressed optimism for future growth. He highlighted the upcoming participation of the RFMF in Exercise Talisman Sabre as part of a company group, with aspirations for expanded involvement in subsequent exercises.
Maj-Gen Kalouniwai encouraged personnel to draw from their past experiences and actively engage in knowledge-sharing to maximize the benefits of international cooperation.
