• NATION BUILDING

    International Arena

Activities within the RFMF will continue to be dominated by the political obligations towards achieving the Interim Government’s goal for a better Fiji. The population has now been exposed to the Peoples Charter and their response should determine the future.

The Interim Government has engaged its developmental strategy and will be looking at improving living conditions by improving communications and infrastructure. The strategy, to be sustainable, will be depend ant on the health of the economy. At present it looks promising despite the economic hardship brought about by the rise in oil prices and other pressing economic minefields. As part of the international village Fiji shares in the globalized effect of such economic tragedies.

Globalization has brought to Fiji many things that are being currently experienced in the developed world. The margin between the rich and the poor is wider. The current statistics rates that 45% live below the poverty line and unemployment has risen to an uncomfortable level. The urban drift has taken its toll and the marked swelling of squatter settlements in the urban areas is but the tip of the iceberg. Social problems are on the increase. Deforestation, rising sea level and other national concerns are factors that will affect sustainable growth. These realities will not only affect our social, economic and political arena but will also impact on our Global Security Strategic position.

    National Level

Picture3On the other hand as an institution, the RFMF continually provide services that touch the hearts of the people. This comes in the form of structural projects for the rural communities and also on the national level in our assistance to various Government bodies for the development of infrastructure. The RFMF is dedicated to its vision and strategic plan to assist the government on the terms of Nation Building and thus deploys its Engineering Corp. to facilitate this need.
