HMAS Wollongong Conducts Community Work

The crew sailors from the Royal Australian Navy on board the HMAS Wollongong who berthed in the country early this week conducted a community work at the Suva Special School in Namadi Heights Tamavua on the 23rd of May 2017.

Officer Commanding Lieutenant- Commander (LCDR) Scott Wilson stated that the works conducted at the school was something they could give back to the community which they were happy about.

“ Ourselves including the RFMF have come together to do some work at the Suva Special School and we see it  as giving back to the community and helping other that are less fortunate than us…So for us it is a real pleasure to be here.” LCDR Scott Wilson stated.

The team are here on a south-west Pacific deployment mission which focuses on security capability in the region. They have visited the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji and are yet to visit New Caledonia before heading back to Australia.
