Professor Herr presents the certificates to the participants of the Capacity Development Program at the Officers Training School in Vatuwaqa

Thirty-members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) including two members of the local media earlier this week took part in a Capacity Development Program focusing on parliament procedures, elections, voting and media at the Officers Training School in Vatuwaqa.

The two day seminar which started on the 20th of November 2017 was led by Professor Richard Herr from the University of Tasmania.

Professor Herr stated that the main purpose of the seminar was for participants to understand their civic responsibilities.

“Basically the seminar is to understand how the Parliament works and how the electoral process would work. It is also to make sure that there was a common understanding how the constitution works and the relationship between the government and how parliament work.” Prof Herr said.

Prof Herr hoped that the seminar was professionally useful to those you have been active in public life and also members of the RFMF whom have civic obligations.
